It is one of the most common stories we hear. The install went fine. Then the company got busy, or small, or gone, and now the remotes do not work and no one calls back. A beautiful system becomes a daily frustration. The good news: this is fixable, and avoidable.
Many companies are built to install, not to serve. Installing is exciting and profitable. Service is steady, unglamorous work that takes a real commitment and a real team. Firms without a service culture quietly drift away from old clients to chase new installs. It is not personal. It is how they are built.
First, do not rip anything out. Most systems are far more salvageable than they feel in the moment. Bring in a firm that does takeovers. A good one will start with an assessment, document what you have, fix what is broken, and bring the system up to standard, often without replacing the expensive parts. You may be closer to "working beautifully" than you think.
Before you hire anyone, vet for service, not just the demo. Ask who answers when something breaks, and how fast. Ask about service plans and proactive monitoring, the kind that catches problems before you notice them. Ask how long their clients stay with them. A firm that looks after homes for life will answer easily, because it is who they are.
We treat client care as sacred. We monitor, we maintain, and we answer. Many of our clients have been with us for two decades, and we regularly take over and rescue systems other companies left behind. A great home deserves a caretaker, not a disappearing act.

A: Often, yes. A good integrator will assess the existing system, bring it up to standard, and care for it going forward, frequently without replacing the major components.
A: Usually not. Most systems are more salvageable than they feel. An assessment is the first step, and full replacement is often unnecessary.
A: Many are built to install, not to serve. Ongoing care takes a dedicated team and a service culture that not every company has.

A: Systems that watch your home's technology and flag issues before you notice them, so many problems are solved before they ever reach you.
