Before he built homes, he built things that weren't allowed to fail.

QAV began in the mind of a mechanical engineer. What it became is something far more beautiful.
The QAV team in Colorado

F-22 Raptors. Race cars. Oil fields. Before Tyson Rabani ever touched a home, he worked in worlds where "good enough" it was never acceptable.

He interned at Accutronics, on the precision work behind aircraft like the F-18 and the F-22 Raptor, where a fraction is the difference between flight and failure. He engineered race cars on Colorado State's Formula team, where a missed tolerance ends your race against a wall. He worked the oil and gas fields as an engineer with Smith Services, where a skipped step is never just an inconvenience. In every one of those worlds, the rule was the same. It must work perfectly, every time.

Then he came into the world of luxury home technology, and was shocked homes were still being wired and worked on weeks after the family moved in. A drawer full of remotes, and a number to call when something failed again. To an engineer trained where almost-right could get people hurt, none of that was acceptable. So he built QAV into a company that works the way he thinks.

QAV approaches technology design the way you build an aircraft or a race car. Every system designed to a plan. Every rack assembled and tested in our own facility. Every scene dialed before it is ever released to the client. So when you walk through the door on move-in day, it already works. Every light. Every screen. Every moment you pictured. Finished. We call it Done at Closing, and it is not a slogan. It's our process.

And here is the best part. Behind the scenes, thousands of hours get poured into the plans, the schematics, and testing everything. You come home, and your home already knows what to do.

You will never see the work.
You will only feel the home.

Technology is only truly a luxury when you get to enjoy it, and never have to think about it.

QAV's North Star

Twenty years. One standard.

We would rather show you a room than a trophy. But the record matters, because every award on it is the same story told back to us: the standard held.

We even made up a word for it.
Outstandallente!

It is not in any dictionary. It is in ours. It is the QAV standard, said with energy and meant with joy. Ask anyone on the team how they are, and the answer is never "fine." It is outstanding. That is not a slogan. It is the mindset for our amazing team who love the work they do.
How We Work

It is written on our walls. Literally.

Walk through our office and you will see the rules we live by, printed large and hung where we cannot ignore them. They are not decoration. They are why a QAV system works on day one.

The work beyond the work.

An engineer's standard does not stop at the front door. Miles of Smiles for Rocky Mountain Children's Hospital. Artma. Mentoring the next generation. And a home for Nivas Built, given in full, materials and labor. We are quietly proud of all of it.

Your home is the real story.

Everything you just read exists for one reason: so that you never have to think about any of it. So the light is already right when you walk in. So the music finds you in the kitchen. So the home you imagined, here in Colorado, simply works, and gives you back the only thing that was ever the point. The life inside it.
You will never see the work. You will only feel the home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about lighting design, control, and integration.
How early should we be talking?

Earlier than most people think. The best time is during design, before framing and before electrical, when the wiring, keypads, and screens can be planned into the home instead of added onto it later. If you are already further along, we can still help. It just costs more to solve later what could have been designed in from the start.

Do you work with my architect, builder, and designer?

Every day. Most of our projects come to us through the builders and design firms we have worked with for years. We speak their language, we coordinate to their drawings, and we bring our expertise and the best version of ourselves to a job site. Explore Trade Partners →

Do you only do whole homes, or can you start with one room?

One room is a great place to start. Many of our clients begin with a living room, a lighting design, or the one space that matters most to them. What matters more than size is fit: we work best with good people who care about the details as much as we do.

What if another company already installed my system?

We can often adopt it. Maybe your integrator disappeared, closed, or simply stopped answering the phone. We will walk the home, learn every system, tell you honestly where things stand, bring it up to standard, and then look after it as if it had been ours from day one. Explore Client Care →

What actually happens on move-in day?

You move in and enjoy your new home! QAV systems are built and tested at our facility before they are delivered to your home, then installed, programmed, and demonstrated before you move in. So the lights are just right, the music is playing, the displays work, and there is nothing left for you to do but enjoy your new home. See The Process →

What happens in year five, when something goes wrong?

We are still here, and we are usually watching. Our Client Care team monitors systems, keeps software current, and catches most issues before you notice them. When you do call, you reach someone who already knows your home. QAV was founded in 2006, and we still take care of homes we finished a long time ago. Explore Client Care →

What is Outstandallente?

A word we made up, and now cannot stop using. It means the QAV standard, said with a little joy. Ask anyone on our team how they are doing and you will never hear "fine." You will hear outstanding. It is not a slogan, it is just how people who love this work tend to talk.
