Country Club is Denver's grand old soul, a historic enclave of stately 1920s homes on tree-lined streets near Cherry Creek, and it is exactly where you would hope to find a house like this one. Designed and restored by Chalet, the studio of John and Regan Mattingly, the home they named Mevrou began as a landmark structure erected in 1922. Chalet peeled back a century of additions to rediscover the original footprint, added a new brick volume that honors the old, and even rebuilt the fireplace mantel from details lost to time. Into a home with such a long and layered story, QAV was invited to weave something entirely new, the technology of today, so quietly that it would never disturb the home's history.

Coverage in Every Corner

A home of this age does not give up its secrets easily. Thick original walls of concrete plaster, the kind that make a house feel solid and timeless, are also the kind that can defeat a wireless signal. So QAV engineered the very latest in Wi-Fi to blanket the entire property, inside and out, reaching every room of the original structure, the new addition, and the gardens beyond. The house keeps its old-world calm, and the connection never falters.

Music Everywhere

Then QAV filled the home with audio everywhere, so music moves gracefully from room to room, an easy soundtrack for a quiet morning and, when the doors open to guests, for a home made for entertaining. Every speaker was placed to be heard and never seen, in keeping with a residence where nothing modern is allowed to break the spell.

A Television That Becomes a Mirror

The most charming trick of all hangs in plain sight. QAV installed a mirror television dressed in a custom frame, so that when it is off it reads as nothing but an elegant mirror on the wall, and when it is on it becomes a crisp, vivid screen. In a landmark home, it is the perfect sleight of hand, all the pleasure of a television with none of the intrusion.

An Evening That Drifts Outside

This home was built for everyday living and for entertaining, and in Colorado the best evenings drift outdoors. QAV carried the experience into the outdoor living space with weather-ready audio and a television, so a dinner party can spill into the garden and a summer night can end with a film under the stars, the sound and the picture following the guests outside.

This is the work QAV loves most, the quiet craft of making a home effortless without ever announcing itself. Mevrou has been telling its story since 1922, and now it will keep telling it, with a century of history intact and every modern comfort hidden gracefully within.

You will never see the work. You will only feel the home.

We fell in love with the history of this home, and we wanted every modern comfort without losing a bit of its soul. QAV understood that completely. The music is everywhere, the whole house is covered, the mirror television is pure magic, and everything simply works, for a quiet night in or a house full of guests.
